I'm going to post something useful...honest. Just not right now.

Reasons that it isn't a good idea to say you're going to blog when you return from vacation:

1. The hot water pipe in the parental home may burst, making it very difficult to catch up on laundry, etc.
2. By definition, you're behind on work. This cannot be avoided.
3. When you arrive home at 4:30am, you will need to go to the store (in this case, for cat litter.)
4. You may receive an invitation to your high school reunion, creating an overwhelming urge to bang your head on the desk and cry.
5. Having come to terms with #4, you realize that saying "I have a blog" is not nearly as impressive as "I have a prospectus." Therefore, you go back to #2, in an effort to undo all the relaxation gained by the vacation in the first place.

As penance, here is a photo of the sunrise from said vacation.

I do want to point out that the cats refused to use the litter after a few days leading to much panic on the part of myself and sibling and to intense speculation on how and what was wrong with it (We'd never seen cat litter before or known how the automatic, machinated version worked). The cats then started thinking the carpet was the area for them to use as their bathroom (for those who have not visited, the carpet's white in colour. Or a light grey). In order to prevent further bodily functions being performed on said white carpet, we changed the sand but then ran out of sand and didn't know where to get new sand from. It's not like DC is a desert with plenty of sand supplies at the ready. SO, yes, sorry about that.

High school reunions can be good fun, I hear. Since I spent most of high school in the basement watching videos and "editing" the school paper, no one even bothered to invite me to mine. My brother, who spent most of his high school days at the library playing chess (with various chess books as his opponents), got an invite and I didn't. For the record, the library was above ground.
