"So, ultimately, in order to understand nature it may be necessary to have a deeper understanding of mathematical relationships. But the real reason is that the subject is enjoyable, and although we humans cut nature up in different ways, and we have different courses in different departments, such compartmentalization is really artificial, and we should take our intellectual pleasures where we find them."

Heh--too late for anonymity now that we are going to be publicising this at BigNameConference too. Just deal with the fame :-)
so there goes your general plan for keeping the university anonymous as well! if i was E and hadn't been consulted on the publicity move i'd be livid :-).
LOL i think E should sue...o wait p has nothing worth suing for being that she is still seeking funds for her research and dissertation writing projects...perhaps they should shake hands and have done with it.
I think at the least she owes me a beer.
Heh--all I did was blog. Not my fault you listed us on "DC blogs", E :-)
I think "livid" might be pushing it a bit considering most BigNameConference folks could just link back through our names on the BigNameConference blogs and get here and, thus, the anonymity was pretty much in name only :)
Nah I think livid would be right "if I was E" as I put it....just my reaction presuming all contributors hadn't been consulted on a publicity move. As you can tell, I'm more comfortable with some semblance of anonymity for now. Just curious then why the institution remains anonymous though if other identification markers remain public. Either way, P, buy her a beer ;-).
Don't really want to have an argument here but I'd have thought the publicity move (as you call it) was E's since she listed us on DCBlogs and suchlike. It's not like I emailed them my post, you know (though I might have if I'd thought of it :))
In any case, mountains and molehills, mate!
P, it was all in jest. wasn't trying to head in the direction of an argument :-).

and the jesting happened coz of the e-mail exchange E and you included a bunch of us on .... onwards to the next post when it's up :-)
